This was done after Police received the result of the post mortem examination, which was conducted today.

The Divisional Crime Officer Northern and his team of investigators are working around the clock in the case.

The girl was found lying unconscious by the door of the flat she rents with her mother on Wednesday night.

According to police, she was found by the landlord after he had heard her screaming outside.

There were stab wounds on her body.

Fijian media outlet FBC NEWS reported that Fiji Police say the 13-year-old was alone at home at the time of the incident as her mother was away at work.

Fiji Sun reported that the late Jia Janvi had alerted her landlord about the presence of a stranger in the backyard of their house before she was allegedly stabbed on Wednesday night.

The landlord, Niren Prasad, said Jia, a Year 9 student of Labasa College, was hanging her uniform behind the flat in Namara, Labasa about 8pm when she noticed the presence of a stranger.

The flat sits in the housing area behind the well-known Namara Hindu Temple.”My daughter-in-law was inside the house helping her daughter change the television channel because my granddaughter had wanted to watch cartoon, Mr Prasad said.”While in the house, heard Janvi scream, and she asked her if anything was wrong.

Then Janvi yelled out that someone was at the back, so she (daughter in-law) ran to the porch where we were sitting to inform us and we all ran to the back of the house.”When they reached the back of the house, Mr Prasad claimed they did not see anyone, but found Janvi lying unconscious at the entrance to their flat.

“We were all shocked because there was a lot of blood and we just couldn’t move,” he said.”So after a few minutes I told my son to go to the police station and get the police officers to attend to the case.

“It was terrifying and frightening experience for us because we had relatives from Rakiraki and we were there. It’s not easy at all and scary too Mr prasad said the police arrived and took her body to the labasa hospital
