Fiji Update:Australia, New Zealand pour in money for Fiji’s COVID-19 fund

The Australia and New Zealand governments have come to the aid of Fiji amidst the growing concern of COVID-19.

A 300 percent tax deduction is now in place for anyone, who will make any donations that is made to the governments COVID-19 donor fund.

Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this is under the Pacific Vuvale partnership and will be used via the donor fund.

“New Zealand government providing NZ$3million cash, and the Australian government contributing $1.5million in combined cash and kind assistance. And while we seating down listening to Opposition, we got news that the Australians have committed another $10.5million to this fund.”

Australia and NZ have also been vastly hit by the COVID-19 crisis.
