New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is expected to reach Fiji tonight.
She is expected to arrive at the Nadi International Airport at 7.30pm today before flying to the Nausori Airport.
There will be road road closures from Nausori Airport along Kings Road, into Rewa Street from BSP Samabula, Flagstaff, Duncan Road, Ratu Cakobau Road to the Grand Pacific Hotel from 8pm to 9.30pm today to facilitate Arden’s motorcade.
Ardern will be in the country until Thursday.
During her visit, Ardern will make a courtesy call on President Jioji Konrote and also meet with Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama tomorrow.
Key topics of discussion between Fiji and New Zealand’s bilateral meeting are climate change in the Pacific, improving the balance of trade and development co-operation.
She will be in Suva today and tomorrow.
The New Zealand Prime Minister will deliver a speech at the University of the South Pacific and visit the RISE Informal settlement project in Tamavua-i-wai.
Another key feature of Prime Minister Ardern’s visit is her meeting with the Women MPs, Women in Business, Civil Society and Youth leaders.
She is also expected to be part of the official opening programme of the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre in the western division.
On Thursday, Ardern will also visit the Lautoka Jame Masjid to meet the local Muslim community and also pay tribute to Fijians who lost their lives in the Christchurch terror attacks.
