Rail crossings upgrade in New Plymouth

Four railway crossings along the Coastal Walkway will be closed periodically over the next couple of months as they are upgraded.

New railway gates that will close automatically when a train approaches are soon to be installed in New Plymouth as part of a $2.1 million upgrade.

New Plymouth District Council has allocated the money to the project, which will start next week. 

Four crossing points along the Coastal Walkway will get an upgrade, starting next week: Cutfield Rd, Weymouth St, below Regina Pl, and the Egmont St carpark, NPDC infrastructure manager David Langford said in an emailed statement
