A toddler was kidnapped, doused in acid and dumped in a bin by a man who his mother claims was stalking her.
Two-year-old Aditya Raj was allegedly taken outside of his family home in New Delhi, India, on December 13.
He was found a day later with horrific burns to his face after being injured with a corrosive chemical that melted half of his face.
Little Aditya suffered 20 percent burns and risks losing an eye.
His mother Soni Prasad, 25, claims the man who allegedly injured her son has been stalking her, asking her to leave her husband and marry him.
She said she told her husband Jamna, 33, and the family moved to Shanti Nagar, in Gurugram, to get away from the man, known as Mangal.
But Soni alleges he caused her son’s terrible injuries.
Soni also revealed she hasn’t seen her son, as she said she can’t face seeing him in pain.
She told Mail Online: “I haven’t seen my son yet, I can’t look at him. I can’t believe he is suffering like this.
“I just don’t know what to do. He is my only son. I’m just helpless.”
Police have arrested another man in connection and are hunting for 27-year-old Mangal in relation to the case.
Govind Ram Das, 20, was taken into custody and admitted to the crime.
Jamna condemned the attack on his young son. He said: “My son was found screaming with acid burning his skin as he was lying in a dustbin. Who could do such a thing to a little boy?”
Aditya has burns to his face, shoulder and both hands and is in a stable but serious condition.
He has damage to his cornea as doctors are fighting to save his sight.
The toddler will also undergo surgery to the burns on his shoulder which haven’t yet healed.
Plastic surgeon Dr Anurag Pandey from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Gurugram said he will need further surgery in the future.
